** PLEASE NOTE: Due to current restrictions on gatherings in place in Berlin (and basically everywhere) at the moment, we will be holding all our music-making challenges online. We’re currently looking into options to allow folks to connect via video chat as well; stay tuned! **
Are you a female*/trans/non-binary producer looking for like-minded music-makers? Having a hard time finding time to make music? Still learning your DAW? Or are you not even ready to call yourself a producer yet?
**
We would usually invite you to get out of your bedroom and come and meet makers, learn new skills, make music, and connect with a community in a friendly, relaxed space! But instead, we invite you to stay IN your bedroom and do exactly the same.
**
Here’s how it rolls out:
At 18:00 as usual, the challenge will go up on the Éclat Crew website – www.eclatcrew.com. Download the samples, watch the video, make a track!
THEN:
BETWEEN 20:30 and 21:00 email your finished track to eclatcrewberlin [at] gmail [dot] com. Make sure you put your producer name in the title!
All the tracks will be uploaded to our soundcloud straight away, on a playlist called ‚Éclat: Part 42‘.
When you email your track to me, you’ll get an email back with the Zoom Meeting number to join us on a Zoom chat! From 21:00 until about 22:00, we’ll have a hangout, introduce ourselves to each other, listen to the tracks and share feedback. (I’m not going to post the Zoom Number publicly, as I want this hang to be just for folks who made tracks for the challenge, just like it would be IRL.)
For the sake of sound quality, we’ll listen to the tracks on our own private computers and then chat after we’ve all had a chance to listen. For that reason, I suggest you make sure you have headphones so we don’t have audio-crossover problems with your computer mics.
If you need help using Zoom, there’s some starter instructions in the comments in the discussion on this event, or you can always message me on FB for more help.
Please try to have your tracks to me as far before 21:00 as you can! That will save me from having to multitask and upload and chat all at the same time.
If you have any questions, please ask! ♥ Take care and see you all soon.

ABOUT ÉCLAT CREW
éclat | eɪˈklɑː |
noun: brilliant display or effect; social distinction or conspicuous success
Éclat Crew is a Berlin-based Electronic Music Collective aiming to support, promote, and inspire the practice and output of female*, trans and non-binary artists through collaboration and cooperation.
But why?
This event is about connecting producers from under-represented groups, and providing a time and a space to work, challenge each other, and honor and share our collected strengths and knowledge.
I don’t think I’m ready for this jelly…
Are you interested in music production? Then you’re ready! Even if you’ve never touched a DAW before, this is your opportunity to be amongst helpful, interested and engaged producers of all different levels, genres and skill-levels.
What do I need to bring?
A laptop with a DAW installed (Garageband, Logic, Ableton, Fruity Loops, Pro Tools, Bitwig, Reaper, or any other DAW you can think of)
Headphones
What do I get out of it?
– an instant community of supportive music maker friends who understand the unique challenges facing minorities in the industry
– a regular, scheduled opportunity to extend and expand your music-making practice
– specific production challenges to push more established producers out of their comfort zones
– shared knowledge from other members of the group through presentations and collaborations
What about access?
Éclat Crew is currently run at The Workshop on Forsterstr 51. The closest bus is the M29, and the closest U-Bahn Station is Görlitzer Bahnhof (U1). We regret to say that our space is not currently accessible for wheelchair users; there are 3 steps to get into the space, and another step between the front room and the unisex toilet. However, producers who are unable to attend due to these accessibility considerations are encouraged to participate remotely. Please contact us for more information.
What about safety?
If you have concerns for your safety coming to and from Éclat, there is a fund available for you to take a taxi home at the end of the night. Please just talk to us, as your safety is of utmost importance to us.
Éclat Crew meets Tuesdays fortnightly at The Workshop on Forster Str, 10999 Berlin. Send us a message for more info.
